DESPITE SHOPPING AROUND DOROTHY IS HAPPY HER YELLOW BRICK ROAD ALWAYS ENDS WITH MUIR

SENSIBLE shopper, Dorothy Howes, still loves living with Muir after 38 years as a resident.

Comfortable in a flat at the McCartney House sheltered housing scheme, when she isn’t enjoying a shopping trip she is busy enjoying time with friends and neighbours.

McCartney HouseAt 95, Mrs Howes hasn’t lost her appetite for a trip into town with one of her five sons and daughter whenever the opportunity arises, and she’s always happy to come home to Muir at the end of a busy day.

“I really enjoy shopping and going around the shops,” Mrs Howes said.

“But I also really like my flat and I’m happy here.

“I love it at McCartney House – there’s always something going on.

Dorothy Howes“I have a lot of laughs – that’s what keeps me going. There’s a good atmosphere.”

Mrs Howes was a Muir resident before moving to the Association’s sheltered scheme, and wanted to stay with us when she saw what we could offer locally to where she’d always lived.

“I have a nice garden here and it’s nice to chat with other residents,” she said.

“The scheme manager is wonderful and there are nice lunches and entertainment – even ‘Fish and Chip’ days which I always enjoy.

McCartney House“The main lounge is comfortable and when I want to rest I can come back to my flat knowing I can go back out and socialise with other residents again whenever I want.”

McCartney House is a sheltered scheme for adults over 60 years of age, with independent living, but with support available should it become necessary.
