MUIR HELPS YOUNG RESIDENT TO KICK ON AFTER HELPING OTHERS

A YOUNG Muir resident who became involved in organising events for his community has been awarded almost £100 to enjoy his own activities.

14-year-old Matthew Guy, who lives in Blackpool, helped organise a football tournament for youngsters in and around his estate.

Following this success, Muir became aware that Matthew struggled to enjoy a game himself with friends at his local sports centre due to a lack of funds.

Matthew Guy However, £96 was secured for him to enjoy playing football at the facility by Muir Tenancy Services Officer, Barbara Stephenson, after she applied to Swallowdale Children’s Services for assistance.

“Matthew’s parents were keen to ensure he continued to do all the good things he is doing,” Barbara (below) said.

Barbara Stephenson “He has been doing well at school and has also been engaging with Fire Services for Young Firefighters.

“He was delighted to receive the funding and we are glad we could help one of our young Muir residents.”

Matthew also recently completed his bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
