About working at Muir

We'd like to tell you a bit about ourselves

At Muir, we help people get a home that suits them. We're a housing association that works with people who, for whatever reason, need some support with their living arrangements. They might be elderly people who need help to maintain their independent lifestyles, or they might be young couples who want an affordable way of getting on the property ladder. We work with people from all areas of society.

Muir has homes in both rural and urban communities around the country, from North Yorkshire down to Berkshire. Our head office is in Chester and we have neighbourhood offices in Blackpool, Burnley, and Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

We've been providing social housing for more than 50 years, so we are well established in the neighbourhoods in which we are based. In our early days (back in the 1960s) we worked as a housing developer for local councils. In the mid-seventies, we started to manage properties as well – and this is what we focus on today.

Muir manages about 5,500 homes for people with general housing needs, and provides accommodation for people who require very specific support. These include people with physical disabilities, people with learning disabilities, and people recovering from mental illness.

We pride ourselves on delivering high standards of service that exceed people’s expectations.

We are more than just a landlord –  at Muir we are about putting our residents first, finding out exactly what they need and how we can enable them to carry out great work in their communities.

One way we do this is by involving our residents in planning our services. They take part in our committees and meetings and we regularly consult them about what's happening in their neighbourhoods. We encourage both our residents and staff to get involved with our communities

We are Passionate…. We are Muir.
