Major Muir performance publications released following Board AGM

MUIR Group Housing Association has published four major documents outlining its future goals and past achievements as board members gathered at its Annual General Meeting.

The Association’s Annual Report 2015-16, Corporate Plan 2016-20, Value for Money (VFM) 2016 Statement, and its 2015-16 Financial Statements, have all been released after being agreed to by the Board.

Held at Muir’s Chester Head Office, the September AGM meeting focused partly on the publications which serve to underpin the vision the Association has developed; based around its own aspirations and expectations of service delivery, as well as consultation with residents.

David Gardiner Association chairman, David Gardiner (pictured right) said: “It was wonderful to attend my first Muir AGM as Board chairman.

“Throughout 2015-16, members have been very encouraged to see how Muir has been dealing the challenges the housing sector has been facing.

“These reports underline Muir’s commitment to the industry and its customers.

“It is pleasing to draw the attention of Muir’s customers and stakeholders to the reports which recognise the Association’s excellent achievements and also outline a clear pathway for its future.”

The 2015-16 Financial Statements identify Muir’s monetary spending during the past year while the VFM Statement 2016 targets areas including board control, tenant satisfaction, sustainable growth and understanding costs and assets, and how Muir intends to control such factors and embed its VFM policy while generating efficiency gains.

Muir’s Corporate Plan 2016-20 demonstrates how the Association intends to deliver and enhance service over the next four years while remaining loyal to its values of being Caring, Responsive, Passionate, Inclusive, Dynamic and Honest.

Meanwhile the Annual Report 2015-16 recognises some of its achievements and during the previous financial year including:

  • Spending £5.4m on improving and maintaining existing housing stock
  • Spending £3.8m on handling responsive repairs
  • Installing more than 230 new kitchens and bathrooms in Muir properties
  • Reletting more than 440 properties to customers
  • Developing more than 70 new homes for rent and shared ownership
  • Collecting more than 98% of rent owed
  • Reducing the number of evictions by more than 50%

Catherine Dixson Muir chief executive, Catherine Dixson (pictured left) said: “It has been a challenging year but we are really pleased with our results.

“Well done to everyone who made 2015-16 the success it was.

“We are already looking forward to another successful 12 months.”
